The long and winding road to fitness, day 39

Holy moly..39 days!  I’m finally starting to feel like this is becoming a habit.  It’s not as much of a struggle as it was.  I’m not saying I don’t still struggle on occasion, but it’s not all day, every day.  And I’m able to bounce back from the not-so-good days quickly, not allowing those days to become weeks and negating all of my hard work.  It’s becoming easier to make the healthy choices, to do what needs to be done on a daily basis.  Good, good, good!

Today was a pretty good day.  My knee didn’t bother me too much at work, so that was a plus.  I didn’t prepare my lunch and snacks last night, so this morning I was rushing around trying to get ready, thought about just going out for lunch, then just grabbed a pouch of water packed tuna, a tomato, a pepper, and a whole wheat sub bun.  That ended up being my lunch…so not too bad.  Tonight I whipped up a smoothie using half a frozen banana, some frozen strawberries and dark chocolate almond milk…this was seriously like a milk shake, but better.  I’m thinking about making one to take to work tomorrow to have for lunch after being outside in the heat in the morning.

I didn’t get a lot of exercise in today.  I walked for a little over 15 minutes and that was it.  My knee was still a little iffy this morning and I was afraid to overdo it.  I did get a lot of walking in at work today again, as usual.  Trying to get things done for tomorrow’s truck and get the stockroom cleaned out at the same time.  It never ends…

So what’s your quick, I’m late, running out the door lunch?  Do you prepare and pack your lunch the night before or try to make time to do it while you’re rushing around in the morning?

  2. Hey! Lovely blog you have here 😀 Congrats on getting fit – there’s really nothing to it after it becomes a habit… such a great thing, right?

    My quick running out the door lunch is to get 2 pieces of whole wheat bread, some peanut butter, and a piece of fruit or two. That way, I can make a sandwich and have some fruit with it once I go on my lunch break at work 🙂

    • Peanut butter is a good one…and something that I love…I do a lot better when I actually take the time to prepare my lunch and snacks the night before…which is exactly what I’ve done tonight…

  3. Where do you get almond milk? That smoothie sounds wonderful! I was blessed to work close to home, and came home for lunch. And I had a dog to let out, too, at that time. My hubby takes his lunch sometimes. He knows what he’s going to take and has it ready to put in his lunchbox in the a.m….usually frozen meals, pre-packaged fruit cups, unless I have leftovers, or fresh fruit on hand that I’ve prepared for him. I worked in the garden today, and sent hubby to visit family for a long weekend–meaning I don’t have to cook, unless I want to. 🙂

    • I get my almond milk at Kroger in the health and natural foods section…it makes for some delisious smoothies!! Wow…a totally free weekend…enjoy!!

  4. Patti, you have really made progress. Keep doing the math as you go along. When you can predict how much you will continue to lose over time, you can project your weight in a year or in two years. It will surprise you what a difference your faithful watching and planning will make. This is how I stopped myself from continuing to gain. I did the math. A pound a month is 12 pounds a year and 60 pounds in five years. The five year projection stopped me in my tracks. You can use your projected success to keep yourself encouraged and excited.     • What a great idea!! I’m going to sit down and do the math…I’ve lost 12 pounds in 40 days, even if I only lost another 10 pounds every 40 days by the end of the year, I would have lost 49 pounds by Jan 1, 2012…awesome!! Thanks for suggesting this!
