The long and winding road to fitness, day 22

Today was weigh-in day…kind of pleased to be able to say I lost another pound.  I was really hoping for more than that, but I’ll take a pound lost over a pound gained any day.  So that’s 11 pounds gone in the past three weeks…not too bad.  Of course, we always want more than we have (or, in the case of weight loss…less than we have, I guess).

I’m pretty proud of the fact that I didn’t eat any of the donuts that one of the girls brought to work today!  They were sitting right there in the middle of the break room table all day.  I opened one of the boxes and looked at them, but then just closed the box and got my lunch out.  I did have one of the Fiber One 90 calorie brownies…they’re okay…not as soft and chewy as real brownies, but they do only have 90 calories, so not a bad trade-off.

I got in an hour and 15 minutes of cardio today (biking and walking) and a few sets of upper body strength training. But then I worked like a maniac at work today (11 hours)…I really do need to start wearing my pedometer again, just to see how many steps I’m taking each day at work.  This was another day where I was able to get most of the things done on my to-do list (yes, I even make one for myself at work…that way I won’t forget to do something crucial…like payroll…whew, those folks would never forgive me if I forgot to do payroll…and I wouldn’t blame them).  One more day to get through before I start my vacation…and I can’t wait!!

I ate a little over 1600 calories today…I don’t know if I’m going to have to cut that to around 1500 a day in order to lose more weight each week…I hate to do that because I get to feeling deprived and that often leads to a bad eating day (or two)…I’m trying to avoid that.  So we’ll see, I’m going to keep it where I’m at for now and see how things go this coming week.

I hope everyone else had a nice weekend…is it unbelievably hot where you are?  Lower 90s here today, mid 90s for tomorrow…I don’t much care for that, but what can you do?

  2. Woo Hoo! Keep it up! Slow and steady wins the race!

  3. Great job avoiding the donuts! That was always one of the hardest things, people bringing in tempting foods to share. I can’t believe you looked at them and still turned them down. Now that’s willpower! When one knows how long it takes to work off one of those, they don’t look as appetizing, do they? You are probably building muscle, too, so you may notice looser clothes before you notice pounds on the scale. You had a fantastic day! I overshot my calories by 186 today, but hope to offset that tomorrow.

    • Well, I’ll tell you a little secret, donuts are not one of my favorite foods…if that had been homemade cookies or brownies, I might have been more tempted to give in. But you’re right, people are always bringing stuff in to work to share and understanding how long it takes to burn off the calories in some of those “treats” makes them less appealing. Sounds like we’re both sticking with it pretty well…hmm…the power of Pattis!!
