The long and winding road to fitness, day 22

Today was weigh-in day…kind of pleased to be able to say I lost another pound.  I was really hoping for more than that, but I’ll take a pound lost over a pound gained any day.  So that’s 11 pounds gone in the past three weeks…not too bad.  Of course, we always want more than we have (or, in the case of weight loss…less than we have, I guess).

I’m pretty proud of the fact that I didn’t eat any of the donuts that one of the girls brought to work today!  They were sitting right there in the middle of the break room table all day.  I opened one of the boxes and looked at them, but then just closed the box and got my lunch out.  I did have one of the Fiber One 90 calorie brownies…they’re okay…not as soft and chewy as real brownies, but they do only have 90 calories, so not a bad trade-off.

I got in an hour and 15 minutes of cardio today (biking and walking) and a few sets of upper body strength training. But then I worked like a maniac at work today (11 hours)…I really do need to start wearing my pedometer again, just to see how many steps I’m taking each day at work.  This was another day where I was able to get most of the things done on my to-do list (yes, I even make one for myself at work…that way I won’t forget to do something crucial…like payroll…whew, those folks would never forgive me if I forgot to do payroll…and I wouldn’t blame them).  One more day to get through before I start my vacation…and I can’t wait!!

I ate a little over 1600 calories today…I don’t know if I’m going to have to cut that to around 1500 a day in order to lose more weight each week…I hate to do that because I get to feeling deprived and that often leads to a bad eating day (or two)…I’m trying to avoid that.  So we’ll see, I’m going to keep it where I’m at for now and see how things go this coming week.

I hope everyone else had a nice weekend…is it unbelievably hot where you are?  Lower 90s here today, mid 90s for tomorrow…I don’t much care for that, but what can you do?

The bugs are really starting to annoy me

I was standing outside talking to my neighbor after work today.  I was tired and hot, but that I could live with.  It was the crazy bugs flying around that really started…well…bugging me.  I kept swatting at them to no avail.  Really, why do we do that?  Do you think the bugs care about that?  Are they saying, “ooh…watch out!!  human hand coming in on your left…no, now on your right…dart up and then dive straight down…you can’t miss ’em.”?  And why is it that bugs seem to bother some of us and not others?  Of course, I prefer to think that they’re attracted to my pleasant scent and overall sweetness, but that’s probably not the real reason they decide to swarm around me and not my neighbor.  It’s always the worst in the early morning and then again in the evening…feeding time, right?
