The long and winding road to fitness, day 11

This is going to be quick tonight.  I really have to try to get to bed as soon as I can.  I have to be up at 3:30 so I can be at work at 5 am…not exactly my favorite thing to do, but I guess somebody has to do it…I guess…

I had 1779 calories today, so a little more than I’ve been eating, but I did get in a lot of fruits and veggies so I feel pretty good about that…did have that serving of PopChips with lunch and then a little bag of Cheetos while on a conference call…I probably should have skipped those, but I’m just keeping it honest here…the good along with the not so good…

I rode the exercise bike for 15 minutes, walked for 15 minutes, did lower body strength training, 8 exercises, 2 sets of each and then some stretching.  I can guarantee you all I won’t be working out in the morning before work.  When I have to be there that early, it’s all I can do to drag myself out of bed in time to just get there, much less do anything extra before work.  But I should make it out at 2:30  or so, so I think I’ll manage to get something done in the afternoon.

I’m looking forward to going to the farmers market this weekend and doing some walking along the B-line.  I just hope the storms hold off long enough for me to get all of the outdoor activities in.  What’s everyone else got planned for the weekend?  Do you kind of let your healthy eating and exercising slide over the weekend or do you use the time to put in a more intense workout?  And with this being a holiday weekend, watch out for those cookouts!!

  1. I’ve dropped 12 lbs. since I started this with you…yipeee!
    However, our lawnmower was acting up and we got a guy to come out and fix it…which he did. Hubby mowed but a lot of residue was on the street adjacent to the yard. I’m thinking hmmm….I should go and neaten that up. It would be my exercise for the day. Well I think I burned 1000 calories before the task was completed. Oh my….came in and had a large glass of cold water (yep..I heard how that might not be good) and collapse on the bed. Whew..I may sleep better tonight and I can’t stop with the “pudding face”.. 12lbs–10 (water) and 2 hopefully fat.

    Gee..I’m impressed with the bike, walking, lower body strength training and stretching. I fear I must stick with the treadmill for awhile or at least until I reach 50 minutes. 🙂

    • Congrats on the 12 pound loss…that’s fantastic!! Doing yard work and gardening is wonderful exercise and you get something accomplished at the same time!! I’m so pleased for you!!

  2. Those aren’t fun work hours but getting off at 2:30 would be all right. I forgot all about the holiday weekend. It looks like I’ll be working a lot of hours, talk about a workout, so no cookouts this year. Can’t wait to see what you find at the farmers market.

    • This was a really long day…after I got off work at 2:30, I stopped at PetSmart and Kroger…bought some really nice looking and smelling strawberries at Kroger…just cat food, treats and litter at PetSmart…spent way more at PetSmart than at Kroger…

  3. Hunger Hill, that’s an appropriate image. I had an afternoon Dr. appt., so I did the 4 mile walk with Leslie Sansone again this a.m.; then hubby got home in time to walk this evening, so we put 2 miles in around the neighborhood. He thought he’d be late, so I took myself to Tropical Smoothie Cafe for dinner, to try the Very Berry Green Tea Smoothie, 24 oz. has only 160 calories when made with Splenda! So far I’ve had 905 calories, so I think I’ll save some to help cover my lunch out w/hubby tomorrow. I hope you rest well, I can’t imagine getting up that early; every once in awhile, I’m still up then. No plans for the holiday weekend. I try to stay within my calorie limit, but don’t schedule specific exercises, as I’m usually pretty active with gardening, housework, etc.

    • I know, when I saw that picture of Hunger Hill, I knew I had to use it…hope you had a nice day out today! I was sure glad to get the work day over with today…did eat lunch outside in the shade, that was nice…

  4. I didn’t get to poke my nose out of the apartment all day. I got almost no exercise. I ate. I drank water. This was not a record-breaking day. Well, maybe it was in a negative way. Get to bed early, girl. You must get your beauty sleep. Blessings to you…

    • I have no idea why that happened with your comment being in moderation mode…it wasn’t anything I did, at least not that I’m aware of! Nope, you’ve been nothing but kind and supportive…I’m enjoying this journey together too!!
